Ja Ja Ja Add Some Nordic Charm To The Great Escape Festival!

Next week sees the start of the prestigious Great Escape Festival, and in among the promoters heading down to the seaside in Brighton is Ja Ja Ja, who hope to bring some Nordic flavour to the event.

Ja Ja Ja has been running for over six months now, and in that short amount of time has made a name for itself at the Lexington venue in London, where it holds its monthly nights. After this success, it is taking to the road, and promises a night of rock, punk, jazz, classical at the Sandringham Suite of the Queens Hotel on May 14th.

First up on the line-up is singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfoer from Norway, who mixed classical and jazz music to create her own unique Nordic sound. Her music has topped radio station and itunes charts, and a Norwegian Grammy Award. You can find her on myspace at www.myspace.com/susannesudfoer.

Susanne will be joined on stage by Jaako and Jay, who describe their sound as Finnish Acoustic Folk Punk. Catch them at this gig, and you can expect an upbeat, energetic take on social commentary, and drinking. Popular themes in the world of Punk apparently!! Get a taster of their music at www.myspace.com/jaakonjay

Finally, Ja Ja Ja took a trip to Iceland, and came back with melodic post rock from Iceland, in the shape of For A Minor Reflection, who complete the line-up. This group of 20 year olds may be familiar to some Europeans after their tour with Sigur Ross, and an appearance at the 2009 Eurosonic Festival. They spent some of 2009 locked away in the studio writing new songs, so you may well hear some of those at the Great Escape, or you can check the band out on myspace at www.myspace.com/foraminorreflection

If this sounds like your kind of night out, then put May 14th in your diaries, or maybe visit www.escapegreat.com to find out about all the other gigs, showcases, and parties scheduled from the 13th-15th May. Whatever you choose to attend, it’s sure to be a ‘Great Escape’.
