The Work It! Competition Says Bollocks To Poverty

Lets face it, there comes a point in everyone’s summer when boredom sets in, however we here at music.co.uk have got a suggestion which might just beat those summer blues.

Charity Action Aid and its Bollocks To Poverty Program have joined forces with Gigwise to launch a new competition called Work It! And they want you to be a part of it. To enter all you have to do is put on an event in your area, which could be anything from a club night, to a fashion show or unsigned band showcase. As long as the event takes place before the closing date of August 10th 2009 it will be included in the Bollocks To Poverty event line-up and entered in the competition.

Your entry will involve you blogging about your event on their website (www.actionaid.org/bollocks), you should use photos and text to share with the world your event. Take the public and the judging panel through your story from start to finish, keep your eyes on the prize. A panel of experts will judge your blogging, and also the number of comments and votes your blog has received. The entry judged the best will win, but what of the prize…?

Well the winners will become Bollocks To Poverty Ambassadors for 2009, and will help raise awareness of the charity and their aims, and get involved in a few musical related tasks to. These include attending summer festivals across the U.K, and interviewing acts for the Gigwise site. You’ll also help organise the massive Christmas party being planned. It will be a great experience in so many ways for the winners, and everyone else taking part. If you fancy putting on an event, and helping a very worthy cause, then visit www.actionaid.org/bollocks for all the information and support you’ll need.
